Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how GeoPulse Mobile Client handles data when used as an Android client for a self-hosted GeoPulse location and presence server.
Overview
GeoPulse Mobile Client is designed for users who connect the app to a server they control or a server operated by someone they trust. The app does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or Firebase tracking.
Location and presence data is used to provide the app's core features: detecting whether you are at configured places, sharing presence with authorized contacts, and showing trusted contacts on the map.
Data The App Handles
- Precise location data, including GPS coordinates, used for geofence-based presence, current-location refresh, and location sharing with authorized contacts.
- Background location data, used so the app can detect arrivals and departures while the screen is off.
- Wi-Fi network information, such as the current network name, used on device to detect configured known places.
- Physical activity or motion signals, used on device to reduce unnecessary GPS polling and improve battery use.
- Bluetooth connection information, used on device when configured to detect driving-related runtime behavior.
- Account, friend, place, notification, and runtime state needed to operate the app.
How Data Is Used
- To detect presence at places you configure.
- To send location and presence updates to your configured server.
- To show your trusted contacts' presence and location in the app.
- To send notifications for relevant arrival, departure, or runtime events.
- To reduce battery use by avoiding unnecessary location requests.
Data Sharing
GeoPulse Mobile Client sends location, presence, account, and related app data only to the GeoPulse server configured in the app. The app does not sell personal data and does not send data to advertising or analytics providers.
If you use a server operated by another person or organization, that server operator controls how server-side data is stored, processed, retained, and deleted.
Local Storage And Security
The app stores required local data on the device in encrypted app storage. Data sent to the configured server should be transmitted over HTTPS in production.
Android permissions can be changed at any time in Android Settings. Revoking location permissions may disable core presence and tracking features.
Deletion And Retention
Local app data can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app. Server-side data deletion depends on the configured GeoPulse server and the account controls provided by that server operator.
Children
GeoPulse Mobile Client is not designed for children and is not directed to children. The app should be used only by people who understand and consent to location sharing with trusted contacts.
Contact
For questions about data stored on a configured GeoPulse server, contact the operator of that server. For Google Play listing contact details, use the developer contact information shown on the app's Google Play page.
